Description | | Each school should send 1 or 2 representatives to be training in Psychological First Aid. This can be a counselor or staff member.
A Memorandum of Understanding is being developed, but I am including a brief statement explaining the purpose of the PFA training and the role of the ESU4 school PFA team members that are trained.
Psychological First Aid Training (PFA) is designed for one to two educators from each school district in the ESU4 region. These teachers will be trained on how best to support educators and students in the event of a crisis. This is a two-day training to be held at Peru State College on November 20-21.
School A has a crisis, they would contact a designated person at ESU4 with a request for support. We would contact the individuals who have completed the PFA training to go to School A to support the educators and students in crisis for one or more days.
The goal with this format is to eliminate the burden on any one district to help with the crisis, and to support schools without our unit who are hurting.
