Description | | Proficiency Scales in the Art & Science of Teaching: What? Why? How?
Are you exploring standards-based grading practices or rethinking how you articulate expectation, track progress, and celebrate success? A proficiency scale is an effective tool to “articulate learning progressions… [and] describe how students’ understanding of a topic develops over time” (Heflebower et.al., 2014). Join Jen, Lori, and teachers in the region to understand what proficiency scales are, why we might use them, and how to develop them. Participants should bring standards or locally articulated curriculum relevant to a grade level and subject/course they teach.
